It’s been a crazy couple of years, hasn’t it? We went from two weeks until everything is back to normal to, well, what you see today. Things have been pretty wild, and all sorts of misinformation has been spread all around like butter on toast, but how true is it that CBGA can help with the ‘rona?
We’ve heard all sorts of claims about how to fight off COVID. Everything from drinking enough lemon juice to give a horse a stomach ache to taking medications that are meant for other things. Most of what we heard isn’t backed up by science in the least.
When we heard people claiming that CBGA could help fight off COVID-19 we, reasonably, met it with more than a little skepticism. All sorts of people have been making all sorts of shady claims, and it’s hard to meet any of them without feeling like someone’s trying to sell you something.
We prefer getting our news directly from medical professionals rather than random people on the internet. Medical professionals have to be careful about what they claim, while random people on the street have less of an obligation in general. Or, we would assume, we don’t know the laws around that.
That being said, we decided to see if there was any validity to this claim. People make all sorts of claims about CBGA and there has been a good amount of research done on this cannabinoid so finding the information wasn’t too hard. Let’s look at the information that we were able to find through our research.
What is CBGA?
There are a lot of cannabinoids that exist in the world. It can be difficult to know everything about cannabinoids unless you work at a dispensary in a state where cannabis is fully legal or you happen to be a scientist that spends a lot of time studying cannabis.
Of course, those aren’t the only two groups that would know a lot about cannabinoids. People that own and work at CBD companies more than likely are pretty knowledgable, and there are also people that simply enjoy learning and one day decided that they would learn everything that there is to know about cannabis.
That being said, most people don’t fall into any of those groups. A lot of people get all of their information about cannabinoids from whoever they talk to that makes claims. That can be ok for basic information like how CBD could potentially help, but when it comes to more advanced concepts this kind of information is nothing more than hearsay.
So, before we get into this claim, let’s discuss exactly what CBGA is so you can go into this article with a solid understanding of what exactly it is. This is important for any subject. It’s as they say, you have to walk before you can run.
CBGA is a cannabinoid, which is simply a compound that’s found in cannabis. There are a lot of cannabinoids out there, but here are a few of the most common ones that you’ve probably heard of at some point or another:
- THC
- CBD
- CBG
- CBDA
- CBGA
- THCA
CBGA specifically is short for cannabigerolic acid and it’s one of the lesser common cannabinoids among the more common cannabinoids. Even so, it does make its rounds in both the cannabinoid fandom and the scientific community.
In fact, CBG or cannabigerol was the first cannabinoid that had any scientific studies done on it and CBGA is the precursor of CBG. That means that we’ve had plenty of time to do studies on it. Even so, there is still a lot of research that needs to be done to fully understand CBGA and all of the other cannabinoids.
Covid Claims, What’s True About Them?
Before you rush down to your local smoke shop to buy up their whole supply of CBD products like they’re toilet paper in January of 2020 you should probably stick around and see what we were able to dig up on the subject so you don’t end up with buyer’s remorse, much like the people that bought up all of the toilet paper.
There has been some research done on a few cannabinoids that suggests that they’re able to stop COVID-19 from passing a critical threshold in its infection process. These cannabinoids include:
- CBGA
- CBDA
Unfortunately, while this is somewhat good news, it’s probably not the news that you’re hoping it is. But, these days when do we really get good news that doesn’t have a huge asterisk next to it? Even if it’s not as good of news as you wanted it to be, it’s still pretty good news.
The issue here is that most CBD products that you can get as a consumer don’t contain either of these cannabinoids. You can easily find CBD products that contain cannabinoids like CBD and CBG but CBGA and CBDA are both a lot harder to come by.
There are some companies that sell products that contain these cannabinoids, but they are few and far between. That being said, your local smoke shop or CBD shop probably doesn’t have any products that contain these cannabinoids.
It’s definitely a good thing that you didn’t just rush out of your home to go and buy up all of the CBD tinctures at the corner Smokes and Gifts, isn’t it? Definitely saved you a few dollars in the long run. Now, how does one find tinctures that actually have these cannabinoids in them? The next section will cover that in detail.
Finding the Right Kind of Tinctures
So, you’ve read the rest of this article and maybe some other, more reputable sources than this random blog on the internet, there are plenty of them, and now you’re wondering how you might go about making sure that any tincture you buy would actually contain these two cannabinoids.
Well, there’s a really easy way to do this. In fact, it probably already came to you before you even read this part. All you really need to do is look at what’s in the tincture and you’ll be able to see if it contains CBGA and CBDA.
Most companies like to include this kind of information on their websites and on their packaging in hopes that they’re able to help steer people towards the products that have exactly what they’re looking for in them.
Now, that’s all you’d need to do if you’re only looking for those cannabinoids. If you want to make sure that the product you’re getting is going to be high-quality, you’re going to need to put in a little more effort and look for more information from the company.
If you want to make sure that you’re getting a good, high-quality product, you’ll want to look for these things:
- Laboratory testing to ensure that everything is pure and safe.
- Domestically grown hemp.
- Domestically made products.
- The ability to check the lab testing of the products.
- Dosage information.
- Cannabinoid blend.
This might seem like a lot to expect from a random CBD company, but let’s put it in this light. Imagine you operate a business in an industry that’s rife with low-quality products and companies that do the bare minimum to ensure that what they’re selling is worth the ingredients it’s made up of.
Wouldn’t you want to take any and every opportunity to show off the level of care that you put into your product so you could differentiate yourself from your competition? Through this frame, it only makes sense that CBD companies that are doing what they should be more than happy to give this kind of information.
It might not turn every single person that comes across their product into a customer, but it could turn enough people into customers that are interested in making sure that the products they’re consuming and spending their money on high-quality products that their company could be profitable for a long time to come.
In fact, most people that regularly use CBD products want to make sure that what they’re putting in their body is going to provide the maximum number of benefits, so this strategy is actually pretty effective.
On top of that, it makes it a lot easier for people who want to buy good products to verify the quality before they sink their hard-earned money into the products. It’s a win-win for the company and the customer.
Finding Ways to Feel Better
If you caught the ‘rona, there’s a good chance that you want to find out how to feel a bit better while you fight it off. It can be hard to tell truth from fiction considering we’re constantly hit by a hurricane of information with varying degrees of accuracy.
Fortunately, there are some things that you can do to try to fight off an infection and if you do get sick, most of the time you’ll just need a few days of resting and drinking cough syrup before you feel better. Stay safe out there, dear readers, and together we can beat this.
